IMC Licensing
Announces
Representation of Union Pacific Railroad
LOUISVILLE, KY - IMC Licensing, the nation's leading full-service
licensing agency specializing in consumer product brands,
announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement
with the legendary Union Pacific Railroad to develop a portfolio
of new brand-building products. As the largest railroad in
North America and the nation’s first transcontinental
railroad, Union Pacific holds one of the oldest corporate
trademarks in the nation and has become the custodian for
trademarks from dozens of historic railroads that comprise
the modern Union Pacific.
Founded over 140 years ago when Abraham Lincoln envisioned
a transcontinental railroad, today Union Pacific Railroad
is an operating subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE:
UNP), one of America’s leading transportation companies.
It covers 23 states across two-thirds of the United States
and serves the major West Coast and Gulf Coast ports. Union
Pacific also provides service to the east through its four
major gateways in Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis and New Orleans,
operates key north/south corridors and is the only railroad
to serve all six major gateways to Mexico.
According to Cara Bernosky, IMC President and Co-Founder,
“We are delighted to represent such an American icon
so steeped in heritage and intricately tied to American history.
For over 140 years, this company and brand have significantly
contributed to the actual building of America, connecting
the east and west and spurring economic development along
the railroad’s path. We see a tremendous opportunity
in linking this hard-working brand to a variety of product
categories, and look forward to developing a host of new products
which leverage its position as America’s preeminent
railroad.”
IMC plans to develop a significant licensing presence with
a line of home furnishings including furniture, bedding and
decorative accessories. Apparel and accessories are another
major category which will be explored, including juvenile
apparel to appeal to the young railroad enthusiast as well
as rugged work wear for adults.
“We are pleased to partner with IMC to extend Union
Pacific’s historic brand into new markets. America’s
railroading roots run deep and we’re excited about the
opportunity to reconnect consumers with Union Pacific”
said Brenda Mainwaring, Director, Corporate Relations for
Union Pacific.
