New
Crystal Light Frozen Pops
BOISE, ID –
Matterhorn Group, Inc., a U.S. independent producer of
ice cream novelties, today announced the launch of new
Crystal Light® Frozen Pops, now available in the frozen
novelty section of select grocery stores. Crystal Light, the
Sugar-Free Drink Mix category leader, has changed the way
women drink water. For over 20 years, Crystal Light drink
mix has been the leading low-calorie fruit-flavored
refreshment beverage. Its On The Go packets of powder can
be added to a bottle or glass of water for a tasty drink
anytime, anywhere. Crystal Light is also available in 16
fluid ounce ready-to-drink bottles.
“The introduction of Crystal Light Frozen Pops offers
consumers a new way to enjoy the great flavors and authentic
taste of Crystal Light,” said Frank Everett, vice president
of marketing for Matterhorn Ice Cream. “The Crystal Light
brand has long been known for refreshing, delicious
beverages. We saw an opportunity to leverage this strong
brand equity to secure the ’frozen refreshment’ position in
the frozen novelty category.”
New Crystal Light Frozen Pops are 1.65 fluid ounces each and
sold ten to a box at a suggested retail price of $3.99. They
have only 15 calories per serving and are available in three
different flavor combinations, two flavors per box:
- Raspberry Lemonade and Lemonade Frozen Pops
- Peach Ice Tea and Raspberry Ice Frozen Pops
- Fruit Punch and Classic Orange Frozen Pops
“These new Crystal Light Frozen Pops have been formulated to
provide the full flavor of Crystal Light and offer health
conscious consumers a choice not previously available,” said
Gary Doyle, president and CEO of Matterhorn. “In a category
known for juvenile tastes and textures, the adult need for a
great-tasting, low-calorie ice pop has been answered by
Crystal Light.”
IMC Licensing, Kraft’s licensing agency and the nation’s
leading licensing agency specializing in consumer product
brands, secured and negotiated this deal. Crystal Light
Frozen Pops are available at more than 200 Giant Eagle
locations throughout Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West
Virginia and Maryland as of July 2008. In addition, the
product is available at 340 California locations including
Save Mart Supermarket, Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill and Lucky.
