IMC
Licensing Product Nominated for the 2008 International
Licensing Excellence Awards
LOUISVILLE, KY –
IMC Licensing, the nation’s leading licensing agency
specializing in consumer product brands, announced today
that one of the new products that the agency has helped
create and license has been nominated for the prestigious
2008 International Licensing Excellence Awards given by the
International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association
(LIMA). These awards recognize the industry’s most
impressive and successful licensed properties and products
from the past year.
In the category of Best Corporate Brand Licensee of the
Year, licensee Unilever was recognized for the LIFE SAVERSŪ
Popsicle, launched in 2006. Having conquered the candy aisle
with almost universal brand awareness and distribution,
Wrigley’s LIFE SAVERS brand joined forces with Unilever to
develop LIFE SAVERS Popsicles, incorporating the brand’s
authentic flavors while looking just like a LIFE SAVERS 5
Flavor Roll. Sugar-Free LIFE SAVERS Popsicles
were recognized as the #2 frozen
novelty health claim out of 60 in the category for the
product’s first year while LIFE SAVERS Popsicles single
serve was the #1 new Popsicle item launched.
IMC Licensing negotiated this license
agreement between Wrigley and Unilever, first recommending
that Wrigley’s leverage
the LIFE SAVERS iconic brand equity to secure a position in
the frozen aisle and then working to identify a frozen
novelty partner who could incorporate the brand’s equities
in a unique and meaningful way.
According to Cara Bernosky, IMC Licensing
president and co-founder, “We are thrilled that Unilever has
been nominated for this important award and congratulate
them on their success with this new frozen novelty product.
We are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with
outstanding partners like Wrigley and Unilever.”
Nominations for the LIMA Awards were solicited from the
entire licensing industry based on a list of categories and
criteria that ultimately determines who the industry honors
as leaders in those criteria. Award categories were limited
to a maximum of five entries each and winners will be chosen
by a vote of the LIMA membership.
The LIMA Awards will be presented at the
industry’s most prestigious event, the annual LIMA Gala and
Awards Ceremony, on June 11, 2008 at the Sheraton New York
Hotel & Towers.
