LIFE SAVERS
Head to the Frozen Food Aisle
The Candy with
the HoleŽ to be Served as PopsicleŽ Ice Pops and Real Fruit
Sherbet
CHICAGO, IL – May 8, 2006 – Having conquered
the candy aisle with almost universal brand awareness and
widespread distribution, Wrigley’s LIFE SAVERS®
has entered into licensing agreements with Unilever Ice Cream
to develop LIFE SAVERS Popsicle® ice pops and Kemps to
create LIFE SAVERS Real Fruit Sherbet. Both products will
be available on store shelves this month.
“As confectionary brands look to expand throughout
the store, we saw an opportunity to leverage LIFE SAVERS iconic
brand equity to secure a position in the frozen aisle,”
said David Kroll, director of marketing, New Confectionery
Brands. “We are excited about offering consumers another
way to enjoy LIFE SAVERS vibrant flavors and colors.”
The Popsicle products will incorporate the brand’s
authentic taste while resembling a LIFE SAVERS 5 Flavor Roll
on a stick and will be available in regular and sugar-free
varieties. Sugar-Free LIFE SAVERS Popsicle ice pops are 2.0
fluid ounces each and sold twelve to a box at a suggested
retail price of $3.29. Sugar-Free LIFE SAVERS Popsicle ice
pops will be available at grocery stores and other retailers
nationwide.
LIFE SAVERS Popsicle ice pops are 3.0 fluid ounce single-serve
products with a suggested retail price of $.89. They will
be available through the mobile vending channel, via neighborhood
ice cream trucks and in local convenience stores.
LIFE SAVERS Real Fruit Sherbet is made with real fruit and
offers all five genuine LIFE SAVERS flavors in every scoop.
The product, which has a suggested retail price of $3.99 for
a 56 ounce package, will be available at superstores and grocery
stores throughout the country.
IMC Licensing, the nation’s leading licensing agency
specializing in consumer brands, negotiated the agreements
with Unilever Ice Cream and Kemps to develop these brand extensions.
